Helmet dilemma.

Before I can even begin to narrow down what brand of helmet I want, first I need to decide what KIND. Modular? Open Face/Goggles..... ?

I used an older full-face and HATED the fog that turned to ice. The helmet did not have a breath box nor was it double paned. Many swear by the system with goggles for anti-fog. I didn't mind the full-face as far as not being cold. However that went out the window as soon as it fogged over and I had to raise the visor. So in my opinion. Full-face is out.

A heated visor would be great, however I don't see that being in the budget. Is it possible to purchase a helmet now and add the heated visor to it later? If so, what models are easiest to do this with? I tried on a few modular helmets today so have a good idea what size works in both HJC and GMax. I did not, however try on the open face style. To me they don't look warm at all. But a gentleman on the phone assured me that they are indeed warm and his wife loves hers. So back to the drawing board. Please tell me what style works for you and why?

You can get a full face double lens helmet and a heated shield as well for about $120!

IMO, if your serious about sledding, modular is the only way to go. i have a double pain heated helmet now,and i'd say its only about 80% effective.

The only problem with the Modular helmet is that it seems heavy. And not only does my heated shield not fog, it will even warm my face!
