Where do do trails open earliest (Nov) & close latest (Apr)

I asked this question a couple years ago but with these mild winters I think I'd better check with you guys again.

Although my wife & I are from the Bahamas we enjoy winter weather and we love snowmobiling.

We take two, three week trips each year, one early winter trip which can be the weekend after American Thanksgiving, till mid December or if we're carrying our school aged nephews, we will take the trip during the Christmas break.

Because winter is now so short, we try to take the second trip as late as possible but still have trails open.

The question is where are we likely to find snowmobiling this year in April. and if not April what about late March?

Also, if you had to plan months out, what cities would you figure to have snow in early December and early April?

Let's see... 2 years ago we were still riding here in late June! Ski resorts were open for the 4th of July. Real riding doesn't start until mid to late January though... even though we've got 40+ inches right now, the conditions aren't very good for off-trail riding.

Salt Lake City, UT area...

We're trail riders so that's cool. I guess it boils down to the usual suspects Utah, Colorado & Wyoming?

Any thoughts on Lake Tahoe, Mammoth Mountain and that neck of the woods?

"Trails" are different here than they are back East though. Don't expect to knock off 200 miles in a day, and forget about your choice of gas or food along the way. If there's gas at all, you'll be lucky, and expect food at the place you left and rented from.

Having said that though, riding is second to none (IMHO). Endless play areas, mild temps, and sunny robin's egg blue skies *most* of the time. I can tell you places to rent and stay in Utah, if you're interested. I don't know anything about the Tahoe area...

Pittsburg NH/Jackman Me usually ride into early May. All depends on the snow game.

We've ridden a couple times in Utah, the trails are impeccable. We rented from a place that's on the rout from Bear Lake to Logan.

That's where I ride. More than once we've been the first ones on the trail after the groomer has run through. Almost makes you feel guilty to mess up the perfect ribbon...
