My Zr is the best ditch banger I've ridden. Love the suspension.

I love my ZRs. They're fast, handle well, have been reliable, and are great looking as well. My Z440 rides nice and is pretty quiet, which is nice when I just want to take nature photos. The old Jag I had, and my sister still has, is super light, and a blast to toss around. Lastly, my old EXT was a fast, decent handling sled, if a bit on the heavy side. Not one of them ever left me walking home.

The only Cat I owned was my first sled which was a 1990 Jag afs 440 (yuck). The AC M series are very popular in my area.

Still running my "new" sled with upgrades.
No reason to go newer as this is just too fast and good handling over the new sleds.

I bought a brand new 2012 F8 SP Retro. I love it! Beats my Edge in handling any day.

I currently own a 2011 f8 sno pro and I love it!!! Handling is awesome and its FAST!!! I owned a 97 zrt600 before that and I liked that sled to. After 6500 miles I sold it to my friend and it still runs great and he is real happy with it. Maybe im a little bias but I see no reason to own another brand.

Always loved the look of cats. Second sled I owned was an 03 zl550. Best trail sled ever. And now I have a 96 wildcat 700 efi ( work in progress) only thing I don't like about cats is they are difficult to work on.

I got my first sled this year, it is a 98 zr600 efi. Having never worked on a sled I rebuilt and replaced the majority of the parts in the skid and rebuilt the top end of the engine aswell as replacing all the wear parts on the sled. With some help from these forums it went fairly smooth. I have never worked on another sled so I have nothing to compare to but it didn't seem that difficult.

Other than that I can't comment much, still haven't had enough snow to ride...

Then you've never worked on a Yamaha or a newer Doo!

I would have to say I agree with the rest, Fast comfortable and handle with anything out there!
The ZR suspension and Handleing is STILL the bench mark all othwers are compared too!

Cats is what I've grew up on and had from the day I could ride. I've had a 72 lynx 292-73 puma 440 and own a 91 JAG 440 with over 6,000 miles on it and never been in the motor and I would trust it to take me any where, just sold my 92 wildcat 700 and bought a 2012 F8 and man that thing is wicked all the way around.

Right now, I have it pretty good. 2011 f8 ltd is pretty damn fast and easily an all day rider. Next is the 2001 ZR800. Not quite as fast as the F sled, but every bit as fun... Much like comparing a new camaro to a late 60's camaro. Love that sled. Finally I still have the 2001 ZRT600. That thing is a beast in its own right... Very angry machine. Kind of hard to understand unless you've owned a good running triple.

YEAH, I like my Cats!

You can't just throw a comment like that out there without quantifying it...

I have worked on Cats, Polaris, and Poo's. My Cats were no harder to work on than any of the others...

Cats are the only snowmobiles they make in my opinion, the rest are just cheap imitations. We are running late 90's and early 00's zl, zrs, zrts, and thundercats. Love them. Once you understand to they are put together working on them is a breeze. Of course they all have there little quirks but what doesn't.

All I can say is when your thinking of a motorcycle most of the time the first thing u think of is a Harley. To me the Cats are the same, when u say snowmobiling Arctic cat is what most people have seen and talk about. So i think there is a connection between the right product for the right sport and Cat has nailed it year after year. . .

Rememeber its a "Catillac" for a reason

X2 on owning a well tuned zrt. A well tuned zrt600 is a force to be recond with!!! Embarrassed quite a few people with newer sleds with bigger engines with my old zrt600. Very angry sled indeed!!!

I don't like that the older Cat's the fact that removing the airbox is a chore in itself. On my Polaris's, it takes 10 seconds to pull out the airbox and expose a good chunk of the wiring, you can just pull the carbs out without anything behind them interfering, etc. Makes working on stuff underneath easier without an airbox in the way. But, Suzuki motors and Mikuni roundslides make a pretty dang reliable combination, and easy enough to work on. I like Cat's just the same as anything else. I won't say more and I won't say less.

Most snowmobile problems are caused by a loose nut connecting the handlebars to the seat.

Hmmm... I could get the airbox on my 2000 Cats in and out in seconds. No so on my '04 Polaris! The boots collapse and give me all kinds of heartburn... PITA comes to mind when I think about re-jetting the thing!

Both our '93 and '96 Cats don't have an easily removable airbox. My '91 Polaris and now my '99 both come out in seconds, don't even need tools. That's about my only issue with them though.

We have 3 AC's, the b/f has a 99 ZL 600, I have a 1990 Jag 440 AFS (my first sled) and a Mountain Cat 600 EFI.

We have had issues with all of them, but not many, and to be honest, the amount of problems a sled gives you, depends a lot on how you, and previous owners, have treated and used it... I wouldn't say AC's were bad mechanically based on the problems we have had ...

I would like to try some other sleds just to see what they are like, but I could definitely imagine getting Cats again in the future. I'd love to add something vintage to the collection, like an EL Tigre, Pantera or Panther
