1982 Polaris TXL Indy

Absolute beginner here again! Just picked up another old girl for use on the acreage...the '82 TXL Indy 340. Starts and runs very well. (Seems like I've been fortunate with this one and the '81 Ski Doo Everest 500 I've picked up this week - both seem to run more than well enough to suit my purposes here on "the ranch"!).

My newbie question for today... the Everest has a primer...is there a similar procedure prior to pull starting the TXL? No user manuals for these old girls. TXL starts and runs well after four or five hefty pulls - seems like I might be missing some sort of priming action to make it go a little sooner???

Yes there should be a primer on there, generally located by the key,

'82 Polaris

Thanks, Ridegreen! There is a toggle switch just above the ignition, that looks like it was added sometime after the fact, and doesn't appear to do anything now, but nothing that looks like it might be a primer handle or button.

Does anyone have an idea on where I might find a downloadable copy of an operators manual for the 1982 TXL Indy?

Tipper....whereabouts in AB are you? I've got an 80 Everest 464 L/C Electro I picked up from my neighbour for $60....I'm in Calgary....If you're not too far away and wouldn't mind some riding company, I could prolly make a trip....depending on if we get some snow to stick around too lol

polaris didn't do much with the plungers for starting. polaris has been using a choke for cold starts on sleds for a long time now. look for one of these on the dash... flip it up to full choke for cold start, then down to half choke after the sled fires up for warm-up
