Quick question on ski skins - mounting hardware

On my 96 vmax, it has a hole in the front and rear of the ski skins that are currently on it (front and back tips of the skis too). The hardware that would appear to have to be there is gone. What is typically the hardware to use? I wouldn't imagine rivets on the rear, because on the ski itself, it is an oval shape hole, rather than a perfect circle. Never used skins before, and they are in need of replacing. I failed hard at finding any videos or descriptive "how-to's" in regards to this. Thank you!!!

rivets. believe it or not. rear hole is elongated more than likely due to the fact the original rivet egged it out.

you want to use the larger head rivets along with a backing washer on the ski side. the front of the skin is more crucial than the rear unless you happen to have reverse.

I thought the same about the rear, however, it is clear that it was machined/drilled/manufactured that way from the factory on my skis.

But thanks for the reply, I can now do this right the first time around

The oblong hole is because the skins and the skis flex and expand at different rates. If you drilled a circular one, there would be no room for expansion and either the rivet would fail or the skin would fail.
