Hi everyone, i just got a 74 motoski capri. It says 295 down bye the passanger handles, but the tag on the motor says 398ccm. Is it worth restoring without the original motor or not. It isin really good condition, it has all the plastics with no cracks anywhere. It also came with the original factory cover, that is in rough shape. Should i build it or sell it. Thanks

I'd keep it. If it has a 398, it is just that much more fun. I don't know if the snowmobile market is anything like the car market, where they want original everything. However, a guy was nuts for my 80 Citation SS and gave me his 96 Vmax that was in better condition, so who knows!

Honestly, I'd keep the sled. If you find a 295, you can always stuff it in there. Until then, have fun with it!

Thanks kemo i was thinking the same thing after i posted it i just took the motor out & started stripping it down. It full of rust & oxidation.. Seems to have good compression but no spark.

Lots of corrosion/rust on the ignition parts then too.
Clean the ends of the charge coils, magnets, and points.

Points coils & magnets look new. Gonna file & regap. Tomorrows another day.
