VERY large, or custom sized helmets?
So I ran into an issue today while shopping for studs and backers... I am in need of a helmet. Now, I know I have a rather large noggin, but while at Shadetree today trying to try some on, I've found that I can't fit in their largest helmet, a 5xl CKX helmet. This is a problem, as a helmet is required for snowmobiling. I don't have fat on my face, or multiple chins, or rolls... I just have a huge head. It was a big struggle to fit in the 5xl, and it was a scare to get out of it, and mind you, I shave my head.
I have yarn that I'm waiting to measure... I'm currently at my family's house. You'd think the tape measure would be where the tools go... the tool box... or the utility drawer. So no, I don't have any useful measurements to provide... but where can I look for LARGE helmets?

Wow, that's a big bean! J/K... Like said above, each manufacturer has different sizong. Zeus helmets are usually a larger fit.

already tried other brands, thats why i am in a bind right now.
Edit - measurement comes out to 24". I should be approximately an XL... There is no way my noggin is getting inside an XL.

I bic it every day. I'd fear for having hair trying to get in today's helmets, they are just too small.

Best I can tell you is to go to a sled shop and try them all. Have you tried the Ski Doo 2BVS helmet yet?

my wife has a rather large cranium as does one of my kids and we ran into similar issues as to helmet fitment.
unless your skull is abnormally shaped than the masses used to fit helmets to, as mentioned, different brands produce different results.
we ended up using HJC lids. only thing we could find that fit and was comfortable. my wife measures about 24" on the cranial measure and rides with a 2x. my youngest at 14 uses the xl. unfortunately hes still growing.
do some research as to how a helmet should fit and feel, try several brands, and dont think your the only person in the world with the problem. theres a helmet out there made to fit you.
if you choose to wear a "hood sock" or "balaclava", be sure to factor that into fitment. with 4 growing children, helmet shopping is almost a semi-annual event. glad the brides head quit growing prior to marriage.

If you wouldn't mind snowcross style helmet 509 is great I was in the same boat as you. there biggest size witch is a 2x fit good there chart said 24" is about a 2x little less if you wanna go try one head over to upnorthsports Bemidji there the only place in mn I can find that stocks them. Also 509 is making a trip there on 8th and 9th of dec and they might do custom sizing too.

I'm looking for a modular helmet. I'll have to stop by Shadetree again to see what they might have at a later time for a bigger helmet. I just wish I could replace the lens, but, it must be about 7 years old now, and I highly doubt I'll find replacement parts for it. Shoot, this is right about the time I joined is when I got it.
So if anyone has a 2005 kimpex catalog... I'm sure I can find the part number in there, that or 2006 too!
