Kawi 440 wont stay running.
I got a friends sled at my house. He has rebuilt both carbs and replaced fuel pump with new one. all new fuel lines, and filter. Air screws are 1 turn out. Sled fires up first pull but after about 15 secs it dies out. I'm thinkin crank seal. But not sure i will check tomorrow cause I'm fresh out of starting fluid. Also sled backfires. What are your opinions. Its a really nice sled for the age.

If you flip the choke on and off will it keep running?

Ok it stayed running for a few more secs with choke. So took off the plugs and they were fouled. Put new ones in fired up a lot easier. What exactly do i adjust to get it just right air screw or something else. Its almost pouring fuel out of the exhaust. When i took plugs out i pulled a few times to see if the case was flooded. It wasnt

I ask because if it will stay running that way, you have a fuel feed problem.
Most likely a plugged pilot jet that needs flossing.

Test crank seals and other possible leak points [carb flanges/base gasket/head gasket].
But, if as you say the plugs are wet, it will either be a case of weak spark under pressure, or you may have a leak in the fuel pump [gas going in through the pulse line] or even metering valves that are not sealing well.

Both carbs were rebuilt with rebuild kits. Like i said its a friends sled. I wont see him til tomorrow. So ill ask him when i see him. But dont the rebuild kit come with new jets etc... and the fuel pump was a brand new pump. Its getting fuel i think to much. I dunno. Just started workin on carbs this year so I'm no expert or nothin.

I did see a little fuel under the right head if your sitting on the sled. On the y pipe side. The carb flanges are new also so wouldnt be that.

Can see in pics where fuel is coming out. Also there is a hose clamp on one of the head nuts. Dunno why. It was like that when he puchased it. Any guesses? Maybe to stop it from backin off?

In that carb kit did it have little O rings for the main jets? If not it will just pour gas threw! Did he set the floats to level?

hello,
check your priming pump. when they go bad, you can see gas continues to flow to the carb. Sled dies after short time and there is usually some backfireing. i have seen twice on intruders only after trying everything else again and again.
the line from the primer had a t in the line and split to each carb. look for gas to keep flowing to the carbs from there. Worth a look.
