Im looking at buying a helmet cam and i was just looking for ideas on what to get. The only thing i really want it to have is a GPS. Just need ideas.

I personally have and love a contour gps model but the new contour (Contour 2) is even better. You can access your camera settings through a smartphone app and watch the videos after. I definitely recommend this one

If all you want is a GPS, I have a Nuvi550 and have all the snowmobile trails in it! I has turn by by turn navigation!
But I have been touing with the idea of getting helmet camtoo, just wondering who should wear it?

Just so there's no confusion, helmet cams with gps are not used for navigation. The gps function embeds gps data into the video.

If you want gps for navigation you'll need to get a gps navigational device like a Garmin Nuvi

I think the contours are pretty slick, the gps is integrated to google maps so I believe and you can see entire rec. Trip on a map.. Ive got a go pro and love it!
Ive used it for 3 years, skiing, snowmobiling,rock climbing, mtn. Biking, dirt biking, kayaking, you name it! Never had a complaint.

I dont like the contour cause I like to keep my secret zones a secret! No mapped out route to get there

The GPS model has the same feature... being able to access live video, and change settings, through your smartphone.

As for embedding GPS data in the movie files, as someone else suggested - that's not exactly what it does. It actually creates a separate data file that contains the GPS info. Their app syncs the two files as it plays the video, and in a separate window it plays the GPS track superimposed on a Google map.

I've had mine for a couple years now, and really like it a lot. You can even export the GPS track, and import it into any GPS unit that will allow you to import GPS data.
