Will a sled fit on my trailer?

I have a 4x8 trailer that is supposed to fold up and/or tilt, but I have disabled that feature. I rebuilt it so it is now 4x10.5 feet with a few inches added on the sides to fit my ATV.

My question is how wide is the stance on most sleds? I've read that it's 4 feet, but I'm wondering if that's a generalization, or if it's standard.

I'm hoping my trailer will work for a sled. I plan to buy a used one soon. At the latest, by January. The trailer has hinges at the very edges of the plywood, and I'm hoping it won't damage the skis if I try to use it for a snowmobile. If so, I may just cut them off or install a thin piece of wood over them.

Thanks.

Width is going to vary sled to sled. You'll need to measure the width of the sled you're interested in, outside ski to outside ski and compare it to your bed width. Some sleds can get pretty wide with aftermarket skis installed.

I bought a 2002 Arctic Cat ZL600 EFI ESR. It fits in the trailer, barely. My ATV ramp was too narrow and slippery to use it to drive on, so the guys I bought it from lifted it on for me to take it home. I might back up to a snow bank just so I can ride until I build a better ramp for a sled.

I've hauled my zr (same width) on my 4x8 trailer for hundreds of miles. Like you said, fits, BARELY.
