How to test cdi.

I have no spark on my 4 wheeler. The cdi box looks like somethin melted.

96 polaris ultra sp 680 dg can cobra windshield, 89 el tigre ext 530, 98 zr 600 efi, 80 yamaha exciter 440 l/c, 96 cougar 550.

About the only way to test it is to try it in a working sled. You could borrow one to test, but what ever it was that killed that one still may exist and could kill the next one too...

Yeah that's a widely used cdi. It's a 6 pin. Around $6 new on eBay. I have 3 china 4 wheelers that take the same one an all 3 burn through a cdi box a year. I've tried all kinds of things to figure out why. I finally figured its just the cheapness of the china junk

Is there a specific brand i should go with thats better
