actually I work next to the nations primary NOAA site.
They collect all the data and such on weather and I asked that exact question.

Here is the answer I got.

The sun has entered into an abnormally active period that should be tapering off around oct.
I asked for english.
He said the sun is emitting way higher levels of radiation than normal. think of it like this. If you turn up the heat under a pot of water on the stove, the water gets hot.
Same, same.
The sun, she be getting funky.

Been the same up here, upper 80's into the mid 90's all of July with no moisture. Lawns are crispy critters.

^^^^^^ That's hilarious. Most all of the snow belt( a lot of the country) is EC, equal chances for above, below and normal precip. Heck, I could have made that prediction......lol

The glories of being a weather forcaster.
Can you think of any other job on the planet that allows you to be wrong 70 % of the time and be praised for your accuracy?

Here in indiana we had a whole month 90's and up consecutively and almost a week with it in the 100's. To top it off that land hurricane knocked out power for a week. No a/c, horrible. Almost lost all the sleds in that storm. Trees fell on our garage. Luckily it stood strong. Neighbor wasnt so lucky. cant wait for snow. Starting to cool down finally. About to start another project with my cougar. If it stays cool

NH is starting to feel the heat as well. Mid 90's for 7 days straight last week. At least I don't have to cut the grass!

Just to show they have no idea what they are talking about, here is the OTHER side of the winter forcasts.

Winters of 2012, 2013, 2014 Could be Frigid

Just like we had a bad storm pop up on us a few weeks ago that the weather person had no idea that it was going to happen and didn't even forcast it. A lot of power was out and trees down.

Yes please!
