Not getting gas

Hey guys ive got a 1987 jag 440 i picked up for cheap last year. It ran great all year. I went to start it back up a little while ago, it fired up second pull then died after a few minutes. I saw that the in line filter was all full of junk so i replaced it, but now im not getting any gas even flowing to the filter.

Ive tried a few things iv seen posted about similar problems but nothings working, any advice?

Thanks,
Matt

Before you go any farther, clean your carbs. It's a must before each season if you want your sled to run correctly. Anyway I'd imagine you don't have anything to worry about right now. Just dump a little gas in each cylinder and fire it up while feathering the throttle. Do that a few times and you should start to see the fuel getting closer and closer to the carbs. If that doesn't work, move on to the fuel pumps.

I cleaned the carb out a few days ago so thats all set. I did put a little gas down the cylinders, iv done this a few times and i can start it and try to give it some gas but then it dies. Also after i did this i noticed some gas/oil coming out of exhaust. That kind of had me worried which is why i decided to post on here.

look in the tank and see if the line in the tank is still good. If that is good get a rebuild kit for the pump and rebuild it. it might be dirty from whatever was in the filter. but i would look at the line in the tank first. the gas and oil is normal coming from the exhaust. once you get it running let it run awhile and it will burn it all out. thats what will happen when you just start a sled for a few minutes. you need to let it warm up all the way then shut it off. thats when you get it running right again. hope this helps.

easy way to find out is take as much gas out the tank as you can. then at the front of the tank you will be able to unscrew the feed line out.

Make sure your fuel is on! I spent 3 hours trying to start my snowmobile with the fuel switch off...and I don't think a jag has a fuel switch but anyways, after that, check all your lines leading up to the gas tank. It wouldn't surprise me if its plugged up somewhere in the gas tank itself.
