When did they do away with tether cords?

When I used to ride years ago sleds had tether cords to kill the machine if you came off. I recently bought a couple newer sleds and neither have a tether cord so I was wondering when or why that was deleted from newer model machines?

I just watched a video the other day where a guy rolled his sled and it pinned the throttle wide open where the sled took off by itself. Seems a tether cord would have negated that from happening. Can you buy a tether kit separately or did the industry just do away with this?

You can buy it as an extra, they did it because they want to make money every way possible. Some models do still come with it.

Its still standard on all the Ski-Doo's they use an encoded tether as the key.
