best used skidoo under $1000?

I am looking for a used sled under $1000ish. Something fairly lightweight, simple, and with time tested reliability. I have looked at a ski doo 88 safari, how are these? Are there any other sleds anyone could recommend? I don't need to climb mountains at 100 mph, just want something to go ice fishing with or cruise the river with.

Thanks for your help!

You can go newer than that for $1000. There are 96 mxzs around here for $1000 that are very reliable, pretty light, and quick. Tell us what you find.

LOL that would be a real nice deal!

To answer the "I have looked at a ski doo 88 safari, how are these?" They'd be about what you're looking for... not going to be caught riding with slednecks on these things but they'll get you where you need to go .

As I said though, a 340 is a nice choice too. Light as hell and you can turn em on a dime. Better gas mileage too.

I think for a beginner an indy would be great. If your looking for a doo, look for one of the 380 fans. But like everyones saying, you can find 583 ski doos for pretty cheap.
