traction mat

Hi all,

I'm new to snowmobiling and to this forum and it seems very helpful. I obtained a free old track for use on my trailer as a traction mat. Do I need to take the track clips off or can i leave them on? I don't want to ruin the pics on my snowmobile track. Seems like it would be a real pain to take all of them off. Thanks for any advice.
