can a 530 motor be swapped with a 550?

I have a 1992 ext 550 efi, the motor is shot but I have a 1990 530 (carberated) that runs great, can I take the efi and everything else off the 550 and hook it to the 530? If this is remotely possible, please let me know, thanks in advance!

Anything is possible if you have enough time and patience. Park the sleds side by side, measure the distance between engine mounts and from the rear of the engine to the sled frame. If everything looks the same i don't see why you couldn't swap them with some modifications.

First what happened to your 550? The 550 is the baby bro to the potent 580! I personally wouldn't go backwards to the old 530!

well, as far as I can tell, the rings are shot and the connecting rod on one of the pistons broke, there is a lot of metal shavings in the exhaust ports, the top of one piston has some pieces missing from around the edge of it, however it looks like the cylinder walls are still fine, I dont see any gouges or scratches, and I have not yet looked in the bottom end to see how the crank is, but I dont feel any grinding when i turn it over by hand, but that really doesnt say much until I physically look at it. Thats about it, I figured that the 530 was given to me so that is why I was just wondering if I can take the efi and everythng off the 550 and add it to the 530, (just one if those "i have an itch i want to scratch' with getting the sled ready since the snow is just around the corner.)

NO! But if the rod itself isn't broken and the cases and crnk check out, you could either put a set of 580 jugs on or possible have your jugs bored and plated to the 580 pistons!

The 580 jugs have the triple exhaust ports! I would buy a set of them (even bad!) then send them in to do a big bore (like 600) I just did mine and cant wait to get on it! Then you could have your 550 heads turned to the big bore! Perfect sleeper!
