98 ZR 600/680/711/760! My little ZR would do anything! Trail ride-race! Out to the mountains! Radar run and drag race! Ditch Bang! Jump anything!

Indy XC's! Great sleds.
You can find these cross-country specials all over around here. Got this '99 at the end of last season with only 900 miles on it. It still looked like it had just left the dealer floor.
I paid $2K which I thought was fair, and still just a 1/4 or 1/5th of what a current-day cc race sled sells for. They built them lightweight back then too, with horsepowers around 120...similar to the 600's of today.
These lack the high suspension travel numbers of today's sleds--this one being 10"--but a conversion can easily be accomplished on a weekend if more travel is desired. I've thought about the Edge upgrade in my case.

I completely agree.
And I see the new Rush captures a hint of that look in the 2010 design too.
Pic kinda large so I just linked.

The ZR's for ditch banging, and the XC's for hauling.

Great post! These are the sleds that my buddys dads had and I couldnt afford. Big fan of the Thundercats and Mach Z's however my freind Had a 440xcr wedge and no matter what I did to the kawaski invader I just couldnt take him in a race(less than a sled length) and then his old man bought a 96 xlt sp and I thought I had died and gone to heaven. So last year I was dealing on a couple of mxz's and there sat a 96 xlt sp in great shape so i drove away with that sled on the trailer and now I cant wait for snow.
