Why dont my lights work?

I have a 1985 yamaha ss440 and my headlight wont turn on. The key is in the right position and they just dont work. The light bulb is fine and the wiring looks to be good. They worked a week ago but now they wont work. The rear light works fine but the front one wont turn on. What could be causing this? Could it be the voltage regulator by any chance?

If the other lights work, it's not the regulator.
Check the hi/lo switch or try another bulb in there.
If still no light, start by checking for broken/melted wires or bad ground.

Check the bulb with a multi-meter for continuity, if it is good start looking for bad wires or corrosion in the light base it plugs into. I pull all my plug connections apart every year and spray contact cleaner in them and add a drop of oxyguard (electrial grease) in each fitting b-4 putting back together. You will never have a bad connection again that way.

Where can i find an exact replacement switch? Ebay? or is there a way to fix it. I think it could be the switch because high beam usually worked and low beam didnt unless i fiddled around with the wires. So, i might just buy a switch

Good news, the lights work now. I took the dash apart and there was a plug that connected to the switch and it was disconnected. I reconnected it and it works good now. Thanks for the suggestions.
