Snowmobile motor into golf cart

Hello all forum goers im not sure if this is the right forum for this. My friend and i have decided we are going to put a 1980 john deere sportfire 440 motor into a idk wat year 3 wheeled ez go.... we just found the ez go today in the junk pile and it needs a few parts. needs froms shocks and springs the steering section with steering wheel an a seat. im wondering if anyones got some tips and hints that will help us with this project. and i am wondering what would i need to do to the carb to allow it to run in warm weather. all feedback is appreciated thanks

word of advise unless you are going to change the whole rearend to somthing differnt dont bother with project from experience it will still only go a 5 or 10 mph rearend is only geared to go so fast

we did the same but with 440 cat motor

The only thing holding a golf cart back is the govenor! Removing it, and it will run 35-40!
The problem will be no rev, the old golf carts is they spin the motor backwards to back up! Yes that isn't anything new! You will need to jet it down likely 3 main jet sizes and pilot down a couple too!

thats wat i was thinking it would do. gearing i didnt think would let it go 10-15 with a 440 in it.yeah but who need reverse :P lol yeah idk how to jet the carb my friends dad does tho so hopefully it will work.

Sounds like fun! Mesure the existing c/c on the motor to the clutch so to be able to use the old belt, r from the JD if you can use the driven off of it!

ok the belts from the ezgp are the exact same as the john deeres so that is a plus in that catgory friend i think is going to make motor mounts for it.
