Stay away from Mission or High Country Trailers!!!

This post is a warning for anyone in the market for a snowmobile or atv trailer. I bought a new enclosed Mission two place trailer last year. They are a part of Alcom which also makes High Country. After one trip, I found so many problems, that I thought I should contact the company. I found the presidents email address on their website and sent him an email listing all the issues my trailer had. It had panels opening all over, the interior lights were falling off the ceiling, the doorlock was installed so poorly that it would not lock, and it leaked like crazy. Surprisingly the owner, Trapper Clark, took the time to write me back. He apologized for all my issues. He told me that they had undergone major changes in their production line since my trailer was built and was sure a replacement trailer would be a vast improvement. I was blown away by his offer and decided to take him up on it. Well, two weeks later we made the swap. The first thing I noticed was that the new trailer had a frame about half the size of my previous one. Not the kind of improvement I was hoping for but I took the trailer home and hoped for the best. Well, the best I did not get. The new trailer was much worse than the first. To date I have had the rear ramp assist blow apart and almost take my head off, the side door lock fail, the gas door lock fail, the front door leaks, 7 lights failed, the tongue jack fall apart, and the trim rings fall apart on the aluminum rims. And all of this has happened with both trailers in less than a year. After continued contact with Mission trailers, they have sent me replacement parts that I have to install myself. Just what I want to be doing rather than riding. And now the trailer has a new problem which Mission refuses to fix. The whole trailer is listing or sagging to the right. I measured the distance from the tire to the fenders and the one on the right is sitting 1.5 inches lower. Mission tells me it's not their problem and that they are done helping because they have "gone above and beyond for me already." They advised me to contact the axle producer,Dexter axle, for further assistance. The thing that kills me, is I know trailers aren't all like this. I had a 2000 Sno Pro enclosed that I ran heavily for three years. Never so much as a burnt out light. Nothing. Flawless and for $2000 less. Then my family had a two place Renegade. Same deal. Never one problem after heavy use. So, there is my story. If you are in the market for a trailer look elsewhere. My Mission trailer has failed in some way after almost every use. This is not the way a $6000 trailer should be built...

Glad to save someone. I hate posting negative stuff and understand that bad things can happen. But two trailers in one year and all this? I had to pass it along.

Funny, the wife just said the same thing. The more we buy the most expensive stuff out there, the more issues we have. Maybe a lesson to learn here.

Proline trailers are built right here in Milton. Well built machines. You should check them out being from mass!

I take it there isn't a lemon law in your state? It sounds like a lemon from the word go. If I had trouble like that with a new unit, you can be sure I would be looking into it with my lawyer. I know lawyers are expensive but how much are you going to spend on the trailer to keep it usable? I would also take it to another dealer and show them what the competition is selling. You can't ask for better advertising than that! Maybe the dealer would give you a reasonable trade value so he could have something to show customers in regards to whose trailer is better quality. When I was a kid, my mom put a sign in the window of a car we bought listing all of the problems we had with it and the dealer was so embarrased by that, he fixed everything on the car at no cost to my folks. Just a suggestion, put a sign on the trailer that everyone can see and when they ask about it tell them the story, you can bet it will get back to the company and they will do something to stop the bad publicity. When it comes to advertising, the word of mouth is always the best method. You have a legitimate problem that they refuse to fix, so there is no slander or liable because you have obvious things wrong with the trailer.

Thanks for the thoughts! All interesting ideas. I may look into a trade, but will be giving my lawer a call first. As for the lemon law, yes, there is none on trailers in MA. The amazing thing is that Mission's position is that they "have gone above and beyond" because they sent me some replacement parts from time to time for me to install myself. Image a car company sending you a new door lock and saying, here you go, pop that in and your done.

Screw the lawyer, contact the Better Business Bureau and tell them you want to return the trailer and be refunded.

I am going to contact them via their online form tonight. We'll see what they say. I sure wish I could just get refunded and walk away from this nightmare.

Indeed. But hey, I feel much better, they told me they have gone "above and beyond despite my attitude." Apparently, my letting them know about all my issues constitutes an "attitude" according to their latest correspondence.
