Suspension help

I'm pretty new at this, which is why I foolishly overpay for new sleds. Please have a look at the 2 pics. One is my 08 gsx sport, the other is my 09 gsx 550 fan. I noticed poor traction on hardpack for the 550, then took a closer look at the suspension. Notice the gap between the track and the slider, and the gap between the track and the floor. Less than half the track length makes contact with the floor. It doesn't look or feel right to me. The 500 on the other hand sits flat and level.

It's a new sled with 40 miles on it. I know if I call the dealer they will say to bring it in, which is a hassle, 40 miles away, loading, unloading, etc. I just thought it might be something simple and obvious, but it isn't to me. There's a bunch of suspension adjustments in the manual, but I wasn't sure which one to try.

Thanks.

Check the limiter strap in there, it looks as if it was not set at the right length.

suspension answer

when sleds are shipped to the dealers they have 2 retaining clips in the rear suspension. from what we see we feel the front clip is still there. it looks like a hook. we do recommend that you take your machine back to your dealer to look at the clip. it is not easy to remove the clip and you will need at least 2 people to remove clip. there is a zip tie holding the clip and will need to be cut. you would have to put a block under front of suspension and someone will need to push or stand on rear bumper while the other person releases the clip. once again we do recommend that you take it to your dealer. we do understand the trouble you would have to go thru but maybe worth it. we can't be sure if that is your problem but from the look of your picture it is very possible. if you have any questions that we can help you with, please feel free to call. 330-544-9696

johnnyks - you nailed it. I found a dealer closer to home and dropped it there this morning. They just called and said it was a retaining clip that was not removed. They are going to just confirm there was no damage and I'm good to go.
