99 Polaris 550 touring 2-up question

Ok, I found a couple of these at a local dealer around my house. They are from a ski resort and have around 10,000 miles lol. They are asking 1,200-1,500 hundred for them, they are 2-ups that do run good and have a newer track and they all have reverse. Do you think they would be worth that price? I don't ride real aggressive, just around the house and on some easy trails and the occasional wide open flatland. Again I did check them out and they do start up pretty easy and are in pretty good condition for the miles on them. Thanks

I have learned the hard way to steer clear of high mileage sleds, no matter how good the sled looks. Treat these as rental sleds, rode hard and put away wet.

If you like the price or can talk it down, buy them, just dont rely on them to take a 200 mile trip and get you home every time.

The option is to get them rebuilt: engine, drivetrain, steering components, shocks, etc. Compare the cost to equal low mileage sled and see if it is still a deal.

It's just like a rental car, everyone beats the crap out of a rental... move on....

That's all I would need to know. There's a reason they are getting rid of them.

Thanks, Im sure the engines will be getting rebuilt soon but im still going to have to think about it because 1200 sounds pretty nice still lol. But I do understand the consequences.

I agree with JheLrey. Also in this economy, you are sure to find a gem of a deal. I have seen lots of deals this preseason and wish I didn't pay what I did last year for my sleds especially my 2 up. I could have gotten better and newer this year. I would think it would be tough to offload a high mile sled and even tougher to do it for a rental. I guess the only upshot is that you can't overrev a sled like you can a car in first gear. Also that sled is a pretty basic, low end touring machine even when new.

Thats way too much money for those sleds. I wouldnt pay over $1,000 for one of them and even then they would have to be in great shape and run really strong to be worth that much money.
