Have a lead on a 198? Yamaha ss440 looking for the year to see if i can use it for a parts sled. vin number from the body is 8L8013004. Can anyone help on this?

Call a dealer to decode the VIN for you.

The vin digit you use is the 8th digit forom the right of the vin, Yours is an L so your year would be 1990. 1980 started with A 1981 B and on up except they skipped i.
