I apologize ahead of time but I've always received good advice and help with my sleds. i just have a quick question about a honda 3 wheeler i picked up today...Again i apologize as i know this is a snowmobile forum

its a 4 stroke 84 125m and it seems like its getting really hot but i dont know if its supposed to be like that or not...its air cooled 4 stroke 125cc its a horizontal engine. and when i spit or drip some water on the side cover above the exhaust it sizzles like crazy and the recoil side is plastic but it gets really hot, not enough to melt but its uncomfortable to touch. runs and drives well has great compression. going to replace spark plugs and oil tomorrow. Also has no battery at the moment, bought one and going to charge it up tomorrow for the electric start.

It is very possible that it is too lean! Your plug will still tell. If it is very white! It may need a good carb cleanning! Also the oil may be broken down too! When you change it and filter add some Lucas too! Ge sure to check all the fins are clean.

Thx a bunch for the reply, i changed the oil and it looked pretty old, the fins were clear and the plug is a nice dark brown around the insulator and the electrode. New plug, new oil and cleaned the rats nests out and it still gets hot but i rode it around all day today and it never once spit sputter coughed or bogged out and stalled or seized from the heat. I guess I'm just paranoid since I've killed my dirt bike and snowmobile in the past 2 years and dont really want to fix anymore then simple stuff, so i figured id be safe and ask around then be sorry and stuck in the woods.

Dont know if this helps but I have heard these engines run pretty hot.

Not to try to turn you away from this forum because everyone here is great but I own a 1983 Honda 200ES and I have asked some questions on this forum before: 3WHeeLeR WoRLD FoRums - Powered by vBulletin and they are very knowledgeable about any 3 wheeler ever made.

Any aircooled motor is gonna run hot in the warmer weather no matter what you do. Just keep good clean oil in it and you'll be fine.

Thanks for all the help, i appreciate it. I've been riding it quite a bit and it hasn't died on me so I've stopped worrying about it.
