looking for some opinions

looking to get a new sled this summer, when the 08s become leftovers, its odd what it has boiled down to, as i am a cat guy and said id never ride a polaris, BUT...the 2008 polaris iq shift has got my eye, i like the looks and the 120 horse 600. my other choice is the 2008 ski doo mxz tnt 500 ss. opinions? my heart goes to the shift, but anyone ride them? im a trail/lake rider that loves to boondock.

I see me coming to the forums has converted one person already, just kidding. But I will agree, those 08 Shifts looks super nice, I'd love to have one, but well, college and part time jobs just don't allow for saving any money, let alone spending a big sum of it .

Good luck on your decision!

Look into a dragon, shift, or the doo's. Test ride them all, and see what you like better.
And get a can for it, i hear there nice....lol
I dont like any of the 08 cats, but i hear the ride is awesome. I'd check into them also.

Just go to the dealer and see what you can test ride. I'd say also get 136 track..but thats me...

cat has nothing for the performance minded budget rider. the f5 is in the price range but makes less ponies than my 580. im thinking about working my 580 over the summer. i love the sled. and get another season out of it and see what the world brings after. a new ultimate xtreme track, handguards, idlers i need, a max3 belt, clutch kit, c&a pros, a new rear rear shock to ditch the kimpex i threw on it, and a few other cool things id like comes to about 1300 bucks to get it to where i would like it, then when i upgrade id give it to the lady. i dont know what to do....i think it would be interesting to tinker with the 580, make it handle like its on rails etc. and maybe get a used shift next year? haha. decisions decisions.

Update the suspension front and back on it with new a-arms up front and new skid out back. It will be just like the new sleds(suspension wise) from what I hear.

This is going to be part of the big upgrade for my sled this summer along with ETT/ TSL and possibly swap a 800-900 big bore twin .

im happy with the power of the 580, thats why im thinking just clutching and a 1.25 inch track for boondocking. no studs. it will fit right? but that polaris switch sure looks appealing....still...

Yeah I got a 1.25 kimpex shotgun under there and it was awsome from what I have used it. The only rubbing I had was the suspension bottoming out.

i think its a great idea but i dont know if it will really be worth the time and $$. im happy with the suspension on this sled...front end could probably use some shocks but...it would be a good summer project.
