Polaris EFI loaded up with gas
Hi guys I posted about my issue on the Polaris board but didnt get much of a response so I am trying here.
Over the New Years break, I bought a 1994 Polaris Indy Classic Touring sled. It has fuel injection. The sled has 1600 miles on it and it in great shape. I knew the orignal owner and I know it has been taken care of.
When I got it home, we did have about 6" of fresh snow (I live in SE Mich) and I rode it around my back yard a few times. I also built a ramp for my truck and ran it up and down it several times testing the design of the ramp. At this point it did take a little bit of cranking for the cold engine to start. After it started I could restart it with no problems.
But I still have not had it out and run it hard.
This past Sat, I tried starting it up but it would not fire. Finally it did. Same thing yesterday morning but this time it would not start at all. After calling my buddy, he told me its probably just loaded up and the fogging oil was probably still in the motor (he had pulled it out of storage to sell it, he did not run it this season except to start it up and load it in his truck to deliver it to me).
He told me to pull the drain plugs at the bottom of the crankcase, and about a teaspoon of gas came out of each. So obivously he was right and the thing is just super flooded.
So as of now the spark plugs are out, and the 2 drain plugs have been removed and the sled is sitting in my garage.
My plan was just to let it sit like this for a few days to try to dry it out, then take it to a local lake (we finally have cold weather but not much snow yet still) and just run it and try to clear it out. We have a trip planned to N Mich end of next week (they have plenty of snow) so I just want the thing ready to go.
I am new to snowmobiles. Is there anything else I should be doing or do you think I am on the right track?
I am also going to put new spark plugs in.
thanks
