Interesting, but what about fuels that are blended with 10% ethanol? In that instance, you need a higher octane rating in order to prevent detonation.

If you're sled is somewhat new then the manufacturers should/ have taken into consideration the blended gas that is today's fuels. Basicly follow the you're owners manual...

Why is that??? Ethanol or not the octane rating on the pump is still the same. Therefor detonation with occur at the the same time.
Example - 89 octane - 100% gasoline at will detonate at the same time as 89 octane - 90% gasoline 10% ethanol blend.
Am I not correct?
Thats the way I understand it.

Ethanol tends to lower the octane rating because it makes the fuel burn hotter and more violently. Thats why if you see a sticker on the pump that says, "10% ethanol", you would be wise to put in 89 or 93.

Ummmm....actually, E burns cooler and slower.
I think what he meant is the octane rating at the pump reflects the already blended fuel (with 10% E).

Doesn't matter what it is, 4 stroke or 2 stroke, running a gas with higher octane then needed is at the very least a waste of money.

I was told from my Ski-doo Dealer that i should be running Premium gas rather then Regular, so What's your perspective on this?
