Little snow = sled damage?

Okay, just bought my sled about a month ago and I'm quickly realizing this winter will SUCK for snow. I live in CT and we were supposed to get 8-12 inches and once again the storm fizzled and we were left with a wimpy 4.5 inches of wet, heavy snow. Here is my question: After ripping around the yard I noticed I was really digging through the snow and into the ground in numerous ares. What damage will this do to my sled? I don't care about the yard, in fact with the studded track its actually aerating the yard . My track will need replacing next year anyway.

As long as there's enough snow to cool the engine and hyfax, you shouldn't do any damage. I've been running around my yard with 1/2" of snow. The biggest problems I've seen running where there's not much snow is when obstacles don't get covered up good. You can hit a lot of rocks and sticks.

As long as you dont hit any rocks or stumps you're fine.

I know guys who won't ride unless there's a foot of powder... I also know guys who will ride once the ground is frozen and theres that 1/4 inch of snow.

I'll ride as long as there's a decent snow coverage 3-5", but my buddy might not even go out this year because we aren't getting enough snow. With less snow you run the risk of hitting more stuff. That's really the only danger other than over heating like the others have said.

On that note, my sled has a cracked belly pan, crack in the hood and a bent ski (which I just noticed today) from the previous owner hitting a rock on a trail that was normally covered by snow and then veering into a tree. That's alright though, last rally my g/f went off the trail because she was getting antsy and hit a rock and bent her ski... So we both dart in the same direction now and it SEEMS like we're going straight haha.
