Raise your hand if your dissapointed

Err, 30 inches of snow before January= Extreme happiness and optimism
One day of rain later= mud grouse, shrunken, wet snow.
Followed by warm 35-45 degree temperatures= more melting

=Annoying

I hate that the most, seasons that start out abnormal then turn Spring like, what a tease from mother nature. The forecast predicting more rain next weekend as well.

We here in Minnesota endured the good snow/warming to bad snow/rain/freezing rain/ very light blowing snow progression! It's supposed to snow a little tomorrow, but it's only December, so hopefully......!!!!!!!

Yeah I am very aggravated already. I live in the Buffalo NY area. We get this reputation for huge snow, super cold winters etc, etc. We had a nice little start the first couple weeks of December, but the last week or so has been rain, wind, more rain and 40-45 degree temps. All the nice base we had is long gone. They are calling for nothing major the next couple weeks either. We need some serious cold to freeze up all the water and mud holes. Whatever, I am sure things will get better, but winters are NOT the same as they were years ago. I would like a new sled, but I have a hard time fronting 7 or 8 grand down on a new ride only to get out for maybe 2 months. It's just frustrating.............

I know its sucks, I mean we still have a foot out there, but its all crusty, and the powder is gone and all hard and unrideable, whatever, guess we just got to be thankful for what we got so early in the season. Merry Xmas everyone, or Holidays, whatever you celebrate

Our winters have been veeery mild for the past 8 yrs, we do snow removal and typically did'nt get our first push until janurary lately, this winter we started strong first part of december and i jumped on a few older sleds...cuz i too have a hard time justifing $18-20K for 2 new sleds that sit 10 months out of a year. Rode the pizz outta them for a few weeks, then we got our warm up/rain and lost almost all of it. Then Saturday we got hammered with a bunch of snow 4-6", we tried riding that night, but we also had 20-45mph winds so could'nt see but 15' in front of ya...sucked. Went out last night, temps were perfect 19-21*, local in town ditches were great, roads were still covered allowing quick commutes to feilds/trails, and then once we got out in the corn/bean feils where we have groomed trails...all that wind literally washed away all the new snow we got saturday Nothing but a ice trail, and it was veeery rough...so we headed back into town where some of the snow did'nt get as nasty as it did in the country.

We'd love to get nicer sleds, but it's hard to justify for no more snow than we get...all my sledhead buddies have always had to drive at least 6 hrs north to find any ridable snow over the past 5-6 yrs....that is'nt me, would be great for a weekend trip, but to HAVE to do it in order to ride at all...nahhh, i'll stick with my el cheapo's and when they sit, who cares, we still have fun when we're out

At least you guys had snow for awhile. We had 4" a couple of weeks ago that I put about 30 miles on, then we had bitter cold, followed by freezing rain.

Well, up here in Maple Grove, MN I finally got out onto the state trail system with the family and found the conditions to be about an 8 out of 10 with lots of powder. We are close to the most December snow in a decade. Now I have to get my wife to stop admiring the scenery and break the 30mph barrier. She is always lagging like 6 blocks behind.

LOL, we ride as a group of 6 at times, 3 married couples...and guess who the three are that we have to hurry up and wait for....guess it's just the testosterone in us, ditch riding i can only ride 20-30mph since it's rough and beats ya (round here anyways) but in the groomed feilds/trails that is where the rush comes into play and you cant get the rush doing 30mph LOL!!!

It's funny, we've gotten more snow this past month that we typically get in a season...i base that on the times i bill for snow removal...and at this point in time, it's hard to tell wwe've had the amount of snow we plowed...the trails close to me are just dirt ice...dirty feilds topped with ice and very rough. brother in law called and wants me to tow out to his area 20 miles north and get on the trails there, he said everything he rode today was all snow powder/hard pack snow with only a few places of the icey conditions. weird. So if all goes well I'll get to put some more miles on saturday..been going pretty good since we got them with milage i've been adding to the odometer

A friend of mine went riding yesterday. Ripped the entire bottom of his sled out and destroyed his ski and trailing arm.

Was riding merrily along until the snow suddenly stopped and a rock pile began. Apparently the pile was right after a snowbank... and apparently there was no rock pile there before...

Long story short: Not enough snow around the city (apparently enough 30-40 minutes away) and an aggravated farmer trying to kill someone...
