Seized motor

I have an 84 Deere with low original miles and the motor seized. I later noticed the fuel pump was leaking bad. Could this have caused it to lean out and burn the motor? Or do you think the oil injection failed? Thanks.

You won't know until you pull it apart. Check this:

I doubt a leaky fuel pump would cause it to seize. You would probably notice it being hard to start though. Was the engine fogged when it was stored last spring? Were the carbs cleaned or at least checked before running it too far this winter.Could also be crank seals dried up and sucking air.Could be cracked rubbers where the carbs mount to the engine sucking air.I haven't really heard of too many injection pumps going south, but I have heard of the odd cable going to it breaking. If it's sat in storage most of it's life it could be almost anything.

It pretty much sat it's whole life only had 1600km when i picked it up. The first time I rode it the track broke. A few times later the motor went. I was gonna rebuild it. I did take it apart. One piston is darker than the other and has a small chunk missing from the top edge. I don't know if it's worth it now to rebuild. It's a shame because it's in real good shape for the year.

Pistons are like $50 or less and gaskets are like $25 so if the cyl are ok it isn't hard to rebuild one! Did you do the track already?

yeah I did the track, but the cylinders are shot. I'd hate to rebuild it then have it blow again.
