How do the spark plugs look? If they are all sooty and black, you probably have a choke sticking, etc.

Is your jetting right? The wrong mains can dump alot of fuel through a motor.

Things to check...

clutch alignment, ski alignment, track alignment, bad bogey wheel bearings, excessively worn hyfax, worn belt as well as all the things mentioned. My little indy 440 was getting 5 mpg just after I got it I did the carb, it was spotless, did the rest, got it up to 14. My biggest improvement was aligning the clutches, they were a lot farther off than they looked!

I have had to replace choke plungers because the ruber gets hard and lets fuel still pass! And yes bearings will rob power and milage! Even things like wear bars can make a diference. How about the belt a worn belt will make the sled seem to take off in like second gear and not shift fully.

Haha you're still getting better gas mileage than I was the last day of the last season! (When I bought it)
I could literally find my way home by following the nice 3" wide line of gas and oil.
A needle that wasn't sealing on one carb and kept filling the crankcase full of gas and oil, and then the other carb had a sticky float and the main jet was... missing... yup haha the main jet was not installed in the carb.
On top of that, my rear idler wheels were worn flat.
I think I got 20 miles to a tank? That's being extremely positive too.
Previous owner really messed the old girl up but she's fixed now! (minus suspension woes... need to buy a rear shock)

Anyways: Do a good rebuild of the carbs and check your jetting. (if the plugs are not a nice brown colour)
Check your belt, track tension, track alignment, quality of the hyfax/slides and idler wheels and what not.
Check your ski's for missing chunks/etc. May be creating a plow effect.
Drive belt, clutches, airbox for blocks... if you don't find a problem in one of those areas than i'm not sure.
