XC Edge 340 2003

Hi, I'm looking to louded my exhaust on my 340 seeing how it is very quite but, the silencer is welded to the pipe so I can't remove it, so I'm thinking about putting a hole in the pipe or the silencer how do I go about doing this?

-thanks

Don't.
You will blow up your engine if you drill holes in your pipe.
If you want to make your exhaust louder you will need to buy a MBRP system or the like. Then you will have to properly tune you're engine with the new exhaust.

Like I said, i can't.. it is welded bro, they don't make an silencer for a 340 xc edge lol, I'm thinking about drilling a hole in the Silencer how do I do it? I know a hole in the Silencer wont blow it up, think about it dude.

-thanks

Just take your whole pipe off. lol THEN it will be loud. Its a 340 dude. Your not gonna get anything racing/performance out of it. Thats like putting a magnaflow exhaust on a smart-car. If you really wanted a pipe you could buy an aaen one. But in the end you still just have a 340.

... You could cut the silencer out and put in a glasspack or universal silencer or something... And then rejet and retune you're sled, don't forget to adjust the power valves, reclutch it too probably because it's not going to have nearly as much power down low... Or as much power up top because you're replacing tuned, excellent flowing welded exhaust with some homemade pipe that has never been tested and who knows what kind of backpressure it will produce.
If you drill holes in it you're essentially destroying the vacuum and pressure the varying exhaust pulses create that help pull exhaust out of the motor thereby creating more power. You will basically be killing all power you're sled makes.

Seriously, you're better off leaving it stock.

If you want it to be louder take the spark plugs off and drop some bearings into the cylinders. It won't last long but it sure will be loud . (Seriously, don't do this either)

Don't touch it! Its made to be that way for a reason. They don't make performance exhausts for them for a reason too! BTW, no need to be ignorant with us, we are just trying to steer you in the right direction! If you don't want to listen to our suggestions then why did you ask the question in the first place??

I think he has probly drilled it by now. If we new where he's from we could potentially read about the fire in the paper....wasn't there some dude that wanted to drill pin holes all thru his exhaust because his "friends" told him it would flow better and boost performance? C'mon man you been doin' the jenkem?http://www.snowmobileforum.com/attac...072jenkem1.jpg

How come hes asking how to drill a hole? Like there's a precision way to totaly ruin his sled. Just get a drill a bit. Then drill until your hearts content. Might as well put lots of holes in it if you want to blow it up in style.

"HAHA after drilling holes in your exhaust make sure you take off the cover that's on the seat... It's just pointless weight, get it down to bare foam and ride like that! Easily make you're sled 6 to 7 times faster!"

OK guys, enough with the flaming.
He's already made up his mind to drill holes in his exhaust and has absolutely no interest in listening to anything that does not give him his desired answer.
If he wants to destroy his engine, lets help him.

EVO.
Take a saw and cut the bottom of the silencer off. This will definitely make the sled way louder and also make a mess in the engine compartment.
It should run great for about 10 minutes before it eats the pistons.

OKay "Dude". If we have to tell you how to drill a hole in your exhaust system.....you maybe shouldn't be around anything mechanical, period!
Take the advice of some very smart people on here...leave it alone or have it removed properly. The weld can be cut. What do you think you're going to gain other than increasing your risk of burnin it up?????
Are you the guy that was giving the advice to one fellow on here to drill holes in his exhaust manifold.
