True speed

I am going to do some lake racing this year with my 2000 thundercat and was wondering what kind of top speed are you guys getting out of your sleds and how you came up with the speed. I will start
2000 thundercat 1000 all stock best speed was 105mph on GPS max rpm was 8400

from what i have heard d&d makes a exclent product mines a epi and could not be more happy with it! keep us posted on the before and after you'll love it get ready for a big grin to be plastered on your face every time you stab the throttle nothing like crusing at 30 mph stabing the throttle and carrying the skis for 100 feet!!

Don't feel too bad. The fastest I could get mine going last year was 60mph... stupid carb problems.

Expecting to break 95mph on ice this year with everything fixed up!

Do you all think that a sled will go faster on a lake than on a smooth trail

i think you would go the fastest on the lake since thats were most drags are held do you have studs?

Top speed is best on the lake with no snow! Things that will improve top speed, less friction, less wind drag, and more horse power! A speed track has a low profile and light weight! They make special bearings (low friction) and a low windshield. As for HP money is the only restriction! A clutch kit is just that it works best for a stock sled! Once you do any mods you will need to redo the clutch!
I have a Mod ZRT clocked at 118 and I feel it had more!

just got back i love this clutch set up it work very well. I did not get anymore top speed(104 mph best) but this thing hits very hard. All this talk about thundercat doing 110 mph plus on trails i do not know if i belive it anymore. I would love to see a stock t-cat go on the same trails that i ride and do better than 104 mph i no on ice my sled would top out a lot more. I meet so guy up there who had a mxz 800 witch is a fast sled but i just would pull from him on the strait away plus i just might be running out of gear. Just to make sure i am pulling the rear end of and putting a new ripsaw 1 1/4 lug track on and redo the springs

hey as long as you are having fun do it. I just like power and top speed but if you speedo said 80 they are like 10 to 15% of so that is like 68 to 72mph.
