|
yes they are presses on one way to get em of is get one of the halgion shop lights that get real hot leave the bearing on top of the light for bout 15min then get gloves and pull her of should be a little easter to remove get all new idler wheels, sliders, bearings get them pressed on do not hit with hammer, look for any peices that are bent look wornen, or cracked on the skid clean it up real good before u reaplce the stuff wash all the grease/dirt of the skid should be a decent little project and for a track id get a camoplast ripsaw 1inch paddle with a 192 studs! and i bet with new bearings your find the extra mph your looking for good luck man

paintball: The EXT Special came out in '91 and '92. The regular EXT was a 530. Just about everything is different on the Special.

Yea they are low. I found a total of 3 bearings the need to be replaced so i am going to just replace them all. The bearing by the driven clutch was so hard to turn that poor motor had to be working hard to move this thing the bearing on the track drive where the cable for the speedo hooks in was grinding like crazy and on the other side the bearing had a chunck missing so as of now i am feeling very good about getting that 110+mph out of this sled. I can not wait to see what she does just hope some snow falls soon

those speedos are way off GPS or radar are they way to go. When i am doing 100mph on my sled the speedo is to the left of the oil light so without the gps i would be going around saying my sled will do 125mph

dude be glad that you took the time too look at the skid! with all those bearings being shot it was just a matter of time before they failed and they make a mess of every thing when they do and the rebuilt would have been x2! you should pick up more mph and a few more ponys the motor wont have to work near as hard to move now keep us posted man

paintball: I think it probably was the precursor to the present EXT. It had more power, better ride, etc. The first EXT's were called El Tigre EXT's, and the Specials were totally different.
