The only way my sled will go 100 mph is if it falls off a cliff. GPS, 85, have NO idea what the tach was saying (who's got time to look!) Flinging that 151"x2" track in circles at that speed makes me NERVOUS!

I've always wondered how these numbers get so precise... 83mph at 7900rpm... I can barely read either gauge after about 70 or so on the speedo, much less match the two. I'm just holding on and trying to figure out how far I can go before I gotta start slowing down real quick.

Yeah but when you have those big lakes with snow drifts, those top speeds are not so easy.

I was going to try for a top speed run last year on the lake, got on it and had a strong side wind. Got it upto 70mph and got off the trottle. The sled was just rocking to mutch and in mid air from the drifts, it was fun thought!

just got back i love this clutch set up it work very well. I did not get anymore top speed(104 mph best) but this thing hits very hard. All this talk about thundercat doing 110 mph plus on trails i do not know if i belive it anymore. I would love to see a stock t-cat go on the same trails that i ride and do better than 104 mph
|
That thing should pull atleast 110 down a staright strech i've seen a pro-x 700 go close to that so i think u still have a bit of a problem are your carbs done right? good belt? how new are the skid bearings? mabe your can is causing the problem mbrp causes hp lost what you really need to do is go down to the lake and try agian good luck

Just watch out for ice heaves guys... Before any top speed run you should run the path a few times back and forth at about half speed.
Hitting an ice heave at 35mph will take out both your ski's and send you flying over or through your windshield. I'd hate to see what happens at 110mph.
(An ice heave is where the ice has cracked and a plate of ice raises above the other... You can't see them and they come out of nowhere...)
Sort of like getting barbed wire caught up in the track. Riding fine and free and then you're sled stops dead and you keep going.

Thats what happened to my friend at my house exept it got caught between the ski and skiskin. He was only going like 10 too and it just wipped the sled all the way around and made a huge mess. We had to cut the wire at the ski and never could get the wire out from between the ski and skiskin.

No it will not not roll freely you have to pull it kinda hard to turn the track i am glad that you brought that up should it roll easy. There is no hestitaion or bog when i hammer it when i hammer down the rpm's hit 8500 and the thing pulls very hard up to about 95mph then the rpm's go down to 8100

I've had my EXT bury the Speedo, and it goes to 100 mph. Real world speed, it's probably more like 92-95.
