what used snowmobile to purchase

I am a longtime 4 wheeler, dirtbike rider, want to purchase my 1st snowmobile for about 2,000.Primary riding poconos, tight trails, rocks, little snow fall, with occasional trips to rail trails near scranton pa maybe even ny.Would like decent suspension and dependability,is this possible for 2 grand.Which sleds should I consider?

for around 2k you can find zr/zl600's late model 440's i even found my 01 zr800 for 2000. for what you are doing i would look for something with reverse and a decent track. of course i am partial to arctic cats. i always think go with the biggest motor you can find. when you find something go look at it! this is the time of year prices are going up. the only thing i would stay away from are polaris triples. very heavy, but they are dependable for the most part. good luck and check over craigslist.

An 02 ZR 600 would be my first choice! Tight twisty spells ZR!

thanks

thanks for the info, rode a thundercat on sunday, went 100 plus mph what a rush.Had to push it backward on a trail (no reverse ,no fun)for frozen lakes, fields would be awesome.I am going to look for a 600 or something for trails,I think, how can I tell if the track is good?Push it on its side and check for cracks ,missing studs?

as far as the track goes, look for no tears or major cracks and if it is studded the less pull outs the better. if you have one or two you can cut the little flap off and be okay for a while but you don't want to swiss cheese it.
