Any audio techs here?

Does anyone know how I should wire a FRS speaker/boom mic to a pair of audio speakers to get the audio to interrupt when the FRS is active? I'm wiring my helmet for mp3 tunes and also an Frs radio.

you wouldn't be able to do it simply with wiring, there would need to be an inline automatic input selector which would probably require 12v power also. And it would have to be advanced enough to be able to set a preference to a certain input when both are active. Don't know if you could get anything like that to fit in the helmet? But I like the idea.

Thanks. I found a cheap pair of Jensen headphones at the local Axeman, seperated the wire from the headpiece, put a couple of velcro dots on the back of each earpiece and put them in my helmet, running the wire under the headliner and out the front under the breathguard. So much for the tunage! I thought about just putting the boom/earpiece next to that, or maybe just under my balaclava, but I don't want to have to turn off the iPod every time someone hollered. Maybe Radio Shack has something like that switch you were referring to. That piece could go on the handlebar, where I'm mounting the mp3 player and the FRS radio. Thanks again for the input.

Yeah if you mounted it elsewhere. I'm not sure there's a big market for 12v automatic input selectors but I'm sure they can be found. Let me know how it turns out.
