Suspension

I am wondering if there is a site that explains the ins and outs of suspension. There are so many different things you can adjust on a sled and I would like to what for instance changing the front limiter strap does verses the rear limiter strap. Or changing the rear scissor stop and spring tension on the skis does. I am not sure if there is but it would be nice to know by changing one thing how it will affect ride and/or performance.

I don't know of a particular site for that info but in my past experience I've found to set everything pretty much in middle especially spring tensions, unless you do just one style of riding like deep powder all the time or strictly trails. For combination riding start in the middle and experiment with adjustments to suit your weight and preferences.
Limiter straps will change alot. Longer front straps will put more weight on the track and less on the skis. Good for powder but less steering control on trails. Shorter straps, more weight on skis, may push in the powder a bit but more steering control on trails.
Something tells me Small Engine Guy will steer you in the right direction.....no pun intended.

First off, what type of riding are you doing?
Trail, off trail, power, ice, drags?

Only trail riding for my wife and trail/ditch riding for me. My new Sled does not have adjustable straps on the front of the slide, my old one does. My new one has walker evens clicker shocks which rock. My other one had fox position sensitive, (which I am getting all re built).

Well, one way to put more pressure onto the skis is to move the rear skid arm to the lower mounting hole of the tunnel. Then turn the front spring/shock up a little till it suits your style.

For the wife, you might want to make the ride as soft as possible (depending on how aggressive she rides) without any bottoming.

^^ RJ's link is a good one....

Here's another, look for "Suspension Tuning 101":
Snowmobile Fanatics - Forum - How To

I drive a 97 Indy 500. I ordered the Owner's Manual for it thru a dealer and found it had a lot of good info on tuning the suspension on it, including the ski shocks. Lot of other good info in the book too, might be something to consider....

I have thought of the manual, but they want $100 for it.
