just oil?

why do people make such a fuss about what brand of oil they use especially 2-stroke? i've worked at places that sold 2-stroke oil and i talked to reps from 4 different major oil 'brands' and got the same answer from all and that is THEY'RE ALL THE SAME if you're buying reg oil they are some have different colored dyes but they're the same. there are subtle differences in synthetic oils but if i was buying i would buy the cheapest i could find. is it all just brand loyalty? i think so.

Any TW3C rated oil will do.
I sue the cheapest that I can find.
So far that is the SuperTech from WalMart.

The biggest difference is how much it's refined. Some oils have higher ash content than others, which craps up your engine quicker.

i know but so far the only oil i could find that said it was ashless was lawn boys oil in the little green can. i'd almost assume that most oil would be ashless, but i'm not sure.

Sorry you'll have a very tough time convincing me that they're all the same. With the higher RPMs and heavier loads being put on mountain sleds I'm going with the best synthetic I can get my hands on. Trail riding with lesser loads and lower temps may require only cheaper brands. I say "Pay now or pay later". I could be wrong but why take the chance?
