Stupid Question....Idleing Q

Well, i'm new to snowmobiles so this will be a dumb question to alot of you but....i dont know.. haha

I have a indy 340 (2k) and it doesnt want to idle for crap right now, and i was wondering if its because its warm (mid 30's)? and its jetted for much colder weather?

Will it idle better once colder outside? or should i adjust it now to idle proberly? It wants to dir out like it has the choke on.

Sorry if this doesnt make sense....i gotta start somewhere.

Thanks guys/gals

The warmth could definitely be a factor. My guess is it sat all summer right? Most likely you probably have some build up in the carbs or something. Unless you got it ready for the summer...then you most likely wont have much of a problem...as far as the carbs go but yea...let me know what its status was all summer.

I got the sled a few weeks back, it started wit one pull and ran good.

The other day i put some gas in (about a month old), drove it around the yard and parked it went into the house to get something, came back out (minute later) and it died, so i restarted let it idle then shut it down. Went out yesterday to start it up, nothing, so i pulled the plugs. They were black and "carbony" so i figured i fouled it out. Went and got new plugs today added some seafoam to the gas. Went to start and it took 50 some pulls to get going, and i had to keep the throttle pinned to get it going. I looked at the exhaust and gas was coming out with some black stuff (carbon?) so i was confused at that. Drove it around, parked it. Came back about 2 hours later and it took probly 10 pulls to go and it runs fine when you give it some gas, but at idle it wants to die like the chokes on?

Thats where i'm at now, i hope all that made sense, i'm 2 gins in the hole and its late. Thanks man!

You flooded it and now it needs to be run long enough to clear all the residue out of the pipe.

yea, it being warm and you letting it idle for awhile flooded it. your on the right track, let the seafoam work and wait till it gets colder out and run it.

I looked at the plugs i got from the polaris dealer yesterday and there the wrong ones. So maybe that made in idle bad. I put the old ones back in and it started and seemed to run better.

Next time i will look before i buy....

Thanks!
