Cleaning contacts In wiring harness
Anyone know of any good solvents or cleaners that I can safely soak the contacts in the wiring harness for the ole 72 skidoo? I have carefully scanned all of the wiring on the TNT, and everything looks to be in great condition, but the contacts in all of the plugs are very oxidized. I think if I can find the right solution to soak them in, it will cure the problem of the intermittent power the headlight and taillight get ect..

When cleaning the wire harness in my fire bird do to corrosion I was told to use a non-chlorinated brake cleaner witch will leave no residue and works more efficient than traditional wire cleaners and had great results. I am sure their is not much of a difference using it on a sled harness .

Radio Shack has a spray tuner cleaner specifically for electrical contacts!! After cleaning, use di-electric grease when re-assembling!

I use CRC electrical contact cleaner, followed by a scrubbing with some little wire brushes made to clean terminals with. I think I got these off of the Snap On truck. I shoot some more cleaner on them then dielectric grease so it doesn't happen again.

If it is a copper wire some coca cola will clean it up and then dielectic grease.

On the chrome you can wipe it on wait a minute and wash it off and dry.

When using coca cola you are still gonna have to use a cleaner due to the fact it gets inside the harness. If you don't the syrup that you didn't get with the rag will stay in there and collect moister that is just in the air making it worse than when you first started. Ben there learned from it
