which clutch weights?

The frankenpanther is almost done but I need some advice.

I built this sled for someone who is not into neck snapping torque. That said we still need a reasonabally high engagement here to keep it from bogging.

What clutch weights should I get for this set up?

1994 Panther 2 up with a Cougar 500FC installed in it.

Thanks in advance!

There's more to it than that

When tuning the clutch you need to balance the Primary clutch
weights with the primary spring, the secondary helix angles, secondary spring and spring torsion hole. Need to read the
clutch tuning threads and maybe get a good book on it.

I have had pretty good luck with Heelcliker and Thunder Products
adjustable weights. Both throw in a selection of primary springs, but leave it to you to purchase a selection of helixes to try.
Usually when you go with heavier kit weights, you need a lower
angle helix in the secondary.

General rule- if it is bogging due to shifting too soon, you need a stronger primary spring And/or lighter weights and/or a lower angled helix, and/or more tension on secondary spring.

Also: stronger primary spring will increase engagement rpms,
as will shimming the primary spring.

Well the weights that are in it say (A 2) Are these 42's? They are the stock ones for the clutch.

Thanks
Chris

Primary is stock to engine or sled?

Better if it is stock with the engine- since it will be
set to the power/torque curve of the engine. Need
to set secondary to original specs that was matched to the
primary for a starting point. In other words, need to use
the actual secondary that was in the sled the motor came out
of, or match your secondary spring and helix to those orig
specs, to get to a starting point.

Once you get the primary and secondary to original specs for
the motor, then you need to check your gearing to see if
that is close to original for motor/clutch setup.

Then you can start tweaking things to get them the way you
like them.

Or you can just put together what you have and start
trying things to make it right. First method starts you
off close, I f you are already close, second method saves time.
