Can you remove a clutch without a specific tool?
Have a toasted motor that I want to take the clutch off of. can you remove this without the specific arctic cat clutch puller?
If so how?
Thanks!

I made one out of a correct treaded bolt and the pin part of a tractor hitch pin.
Sawed off the handle of the tractor pin, the put tape near the bottom and top
of the pin to keep it straight in the clutch. Always lube the bolt and tip of the
pin with grease so they can spin. It worked for me, but I bought the correct puller
later. Correct part is easier to use.

You need the tool.

bolt and metal rod method
I am going to go out on a limb here and stick by my
bolt and metal rod post. I used it in just the sort of
time pinch you are in. It worked. Your results may vary.
If you do do it, make sure the metal rod is the right length
so you have enough bolt in the threads of the clutch, and
enough rod so you don't bottom out. Make sure rod
doesn't angle itself in the clutch- hence the tape on the
top and bottom. It will work if done right. It will wreck
something if not done just right. Hence the SEG and others
admonishments.

OK - I give
Don't do it. Not worth the risk, especially if you don't have
a hardened bolt handy.

I made the "bolt and pin" useing grade 8 bolt and cold rolles steel bar and it works fine, just make sure you have enough threads in the clutch as stated earlier.

find the correct bolt for the clutch, drill a 1/8" hole thru it longways, drill and tap the end for a grease fitting. use thread tape for the bolt to seal the threads, turn it in enough and pump it up with grease, when full, turn the bolt in some more, the hydraulic pressure should pop it right off. not the cleanest way, but it works.

I feel your pain. Here in Alaska, one sometimes finds it difficult to find the correct tool for the job. I have been known to MacGyver many things that would normally be easy. I'll tell you what, when a 10 dollar part turns into a 110 dollar part, you tend to try other things (thank shipping costs for that).

Thanks!
