the air box is located of the back of the carbs on your dash board you should see a whole with nothin in it thats the air box pull it off pretty easy just remove carbs and you might have to revmove your dash and clean it out if there in the pipe i would think that the sled would still start and burn off the nest?

If you're sure you're getting spark, pull the plugs, dribble a little gas into each cylinder, put the plugs back in, and pull it over. It should start.

Dont know about the vmax.

Did you turn off the fuel when you stored them? If not I know doo's of that era like to flood themselfs BAD if left sit for Long periods with the fuel on. (found out hard way myself)

If you have spark. pull the plugs and pull it ouver a couple times to clear the cyls' Then let it site for a few mins. Hit it with a little starting fluid and try that.

I can top all of those "D'OHs"...

1) Remove spark plug wires
2) Replace plugs
3) Close Hood
4) Trailer to buddies, unload. Can't start
5) Buddy opens hood to find spark plug wires still dangling. D'OH!
6) Listen to buddy's jokes for remainder of day, or buy him beer to shut him up.

This also might be silly, but what kind of gas was in them when you stored them. Did/do you use non oxygenated gas or regular unleaded gasoline?? Regular unleaded gasoline, (at least here in MN) has 10% ethanol in it. Even with Stabil in it, it will gum up your carbs if you didn't run them dry and drain them.

CLEAN THE CARBS!!! If you don't pull and clean the carbs the slightest bit of build up WILL make the engine go lean and melt it down! Please this is any easy insurance practice! Me and a few of my riding buddies take a day(usually tomarow, day after thanks giving) and just go through all the carbs and tell stories and have a beer! Make plans etc. Just take an old cookie sheet and dismantel each carb!
