Rumble Pack Vs MBRP Race Version Silencer
I'm looking for a silencer that's gonna make some good noise!! lol. Yes, I'm really not looking for a hp gain, just some good old db's. I live on a farm in the middle of nowhere, I love the sound of loud sleds. The closest neighbours we have are miles away and I never ride on any trails at any given time. So please no comments on how loud silencers are closing down your trails. Which one is louder? I'm leaning more towards the Rumble Pack because of the price. If there is some real hp and significant weight loss to be had with the MBRP I won't lose sleep paying the extra $100. I'm looking for something that is gonna rasp and scream. BTW, this will be going on a XC700SP. I don't have money for a complete exhaust system, plus like I said I'm not looking for a big hp improvment. And I don't want to have to be bothered with dialing in my jetting properly. Rumble Pack/MBRP; which one?

I've heard good stuff about both of them. The MBRP isn't really "raspy", it's more like "a nice BRAPP". It's really sweet sounding, I had a race series MBRP on my Yamaha V-Max 500 SX last winter, and it was one of the best machines I've ridden, in terms of sound. The Rumble Pack isn't so loud or aggressive sounding, it's more mellow, but still pretty nice sounding.

I've got a Rumble pack on my ZR500, and it sounds great. I wouldn't want to go any louder.

MBRP- You will make absolutely no power and they dyno shows a very slight drop on the top end. You will loose 8 pounds and it will sound sick!
Rumble pack- You may actually loose a h.p. or 2. You will loose about the same amount of weight and it wont be as loud.
kccats- Thats one of the most ridiculous things i've heard said to the day. If you gut the can you will most likely loose 4 or 5 h.p. , yes it will be lighter, but if you don't re-jet right after this your most likely gonna lean out and burn up a piston. And your sled will be very sensitive to temp changes if you gut it. Sorry but completely and underly stupid.....Its not a 4 stroke!

Even 4-strokes sound really gay when you just gut the stock pipe, too loud and annoying, not deep at all. The glass packing and core design is what makes it sound nice...
I'd never ride a machine with a stock can that was gutted out, there's no point to it. It won't sound cool and it won't be quiet either, you might as well just ride it stock until you can afford to get a nice can for it, or make one at home.

I was actually refering to the fact that if you gut it you will most likely harm something and the 4 strokes are not so affected by a change like this.
Ive never heard a 4 stroke with a gutted can though....
