T'NT Pictures
Some shots of the hood and the engine. Would this gasket set take care of all the bad compression?

When removing the heads, I was astonished to find that there was no head gasket on the bad head...I dont know if this is something that is acceptible, but I need to assume this cant be good. I paid alot of snowmobile shops over the past few years to replace that head gasket more than once, and this whole time they have been just pulling my leg. How does that happen? Heres some pics of the heads

That would certainly account for the lack of compression.

Reminds me of an issue I just fixed with my heater in my truck.
I pulled my switches in the dash to check if this switch went bad and found a jumper wire wrapped around the bare original wire. The jumper then went to the fusebox. So the original main power wire went bad and the shop threw a jumper wire on there and told me they replaced the fan and heater core.
Its unlikely but if you still have receipts for the work, doesn't hurt to take it back in and say WTF!?!? Or if it wasn't that long ago just take it in. I went to go back to the place that fixed my heater and they were no longer in business.... wonder why?

Sometimes the head gasket is paper thin. Make sure it's not stuck to one side or the other. Replace the rings on the pistons while it's apart.

Lmao! Ya the garage is pretty antique. I moved out of my parents place for college into my own house so no more spanking new garage for me, I am stuck with the tree fort hahaha. but I atleast I know no one will go in there on me any more and lose my tools. But I am working with it, she gets the job done SEG, I looked real hard to find a gasket, and theres nothing there, I presume it had to be thought out, otherwise I bet you it wouldnt have run at all. But I will just move on. I ordered the gasket and ring kit today, should be hear next week. Thankyou Tamacat.
O haha, I looked back at those pictures, and I showed my brothers the picture, and now we see what make it looks like a tree fort. I see the tree in the windown that makes it look like its up high hahaha.

By the way, how do the cylinderslook? Any vertical scratches? You'll need to hone them before reassembly.

I got to tell you, it looked extremely clean in there. The pistons were very clean, the tops are very black tho, is that normal? And there is some pititng...but only on the top. Other than that, I was very impressed, everything looked brandy new..

Ya that shouldn't be a problem. I will take it as soon as I get back from work. I won't be able to until Monday or so. What would pitting cause? Poor cumbustion, or is that a sign of pre-igntion?

Pitting is due to a lean condition.

I don't think I could take all the blame for that, seeing I have only had it since 2000, but I also think I haven't helped that cause, I don't think I have ever really felt confident with the proper mixture. I have all those 100:1 Pre-Mix Amsoil packets I bought last year that I was going to use, but the engine went bad so I never got to use them. I figured using that stuff would be the safest bet and allow the engine to run clean without all the oil in the way to foul it up.
