usually what you do take a pipe off is undo all the springs and it should come out...

I know when I put an SLP pipe on my sled, they sent some shielding and had specific instructions of some things that had to be cut on the hood for it to fit correctly. Call Aaen and talk to them, they will let you know if there are additional steps to take.

That is true BC_Dan.. I put a D&D monster single on my sled, and had to remove all of the insulation and some tabs i had to cut down so the pipe would not melt them.. To take off the old pipe/can there are springs holding them on like said above, remove them, and put the new pipe on, reinstall the springs and you are good to go.. You probably will also have to change your jetting too..

Use vise-grips to remove/install the springs!

there is actually a spring removal tool...

here is one example:

however, i prefer the "T" handle. it fits in your hand better, imo.

check this out... Howstuffworks "How does a carburetor work?"

jetting is basically what restricts or allows the fuel to enter the carb to generate the air/fuel ratio. to big of a jet setting the motor will have a tendency to run rich. to little jet, and the motor will run lean.

you can call aaen to ask what size jets you need to run with your motor/pipe set up, if you didnt want to do trial by error.

SLP was very helpful when i was looking into piping my sled. they told me everything i needed to do or change to make it run perfect.

Like PolarisIndy500 said. Aaen seems to have good customer support as well. When doing the "trial and error" method, start rich and work toward lean. Lean = HOT!

Too lean will burn holes in the top of your pistons. Because your new pipe will allow greater air flow, the air will no longer be metered correctly by the stock jets; you need to go bigger on the jet size to give more fuel. On my SLP pipe, I started by going 3 sizes bigger and then checked the spark plugs and piston wash to make SURE I was safe. Fuel is cheaper than parts are, trust me!

10 easy steps to installing snowmobile pipes. Caution follow at your own risk!

1.assemble tools on the list
A.Case O Beer
B.Vise grips
C.12 pack O beer
D.Duct tape
E.tirty pack O beer
2. Hold beer in one hand and take body panels off with other ( Caution this can be tricky)

3. open new beer and locate the exhaust system

4. stare at exhaust system with disbelief finish beer and open new one

5. locate vise grips (darn kids) finish beer and open new one.

6. remove the exhaust springs with vise grips (ok to set beer down during this step)

7. kick sled when vise grips slip and you bust your knuckles on the ( frame, engine, suspension, ect)

8. get new beer and think about how to fix the dent in the sled

9. forget about dent and remove exhaust parts

10. repeat process in reverse to install new exhaust

good luck and happy trails
