Brighter head lights
Hi i'm j/w if i could put an 100/80w bulb instead of an 60/55w bulb in my '96 Arctic Cat EXT 580 efi headlight. The bulb thats in there right now is a standard halogen H4 with a P43T base. Would this "fry" things? I'm also upgrading to Xenon bulbs. Thanks

You need to add up the total wattage of all the electrical things on your sled, including all the guage lights, grip warmers, etc. If all these thingsequal more when on than the stator puts out or close to the limit, you'll cook the lighting coil on the stator.

Thanks for the reply smallengineguy, sounds kinda complicated. Maybe i'l just stick with stock wattage for now. Maybe later on i'l check it out once the sled is back together. Thanks again.

Try Sylvania Silverstars...I run them in everything that I have with headlights.

If you are going up 40w on the head light and want to stay in the range of the stock draw, I would look into LED tail lights I don't know about yours but many sleds out there use 2 25w incandesent bulbs. 25X2=50 LEDs use somewhere in the range of .5 to 5w.

Xenon bulbs are bullshit. Real Xenons require ballasts and cost atleast 200/set. I'd say go with the superstars altho they are expensive you might wanna roll the dice with some generics off ebay. Just be sure and check out the specs. They all come from the same place right?

Looks like i'l go with sylvania for my sled, my local autoparts store have sales on theme once and a while so hopefully i can get it cheap. But i cant find it on the shelves so it might be special order.
