Question Any info on Evinrude sleds??

My neighbor has an evinrude sled sitting in his driveway. He told me he'd sell it to me for $20 (after about 12 beers) .But I don't know Jack about these sleds. I took a peek under the hood and seen a circuit board type contraption Wires not hooked up, 1 spark plug missing etc....Is it easy to find parts for these.? He says its a 670 and a pretty fast sled. This thing doesn't look like its been ridden since the wheel was invented. I really don't want to play around with it if I can't find parts ya know. My wife will have a bird if I buy something I don't fix right away. And I don't really want to mow around it either. Any info would be great. Thanks guys.

there was only the 646cc motors in 74 and 75. the 74 was a skimmer 650, and the 75s were skimmer 650 and 650s models. the OMC brands had their own motors and clutches. better make sure you can find parts before you ante up, even if its only $20. the good thing is scrap prices are up, those things weighed in at around 500#, so you could get most of your money back

The circuit board has the regulator on it and all the wires plug into that board before going to the switches and lights. There should also be a couple of fuses on it.
Parts will be available for it, just be sure to order under OMC rather than Evinrude.

I think I might just stay away. The track is not lookin to healthy either so that alone is gonna jack up that "OVERHAUL" bill pretty high. I dont think it has any rear suspension at all.If I remember right ,thats why I Invested in newer sleds.
Thanks for the input fellas.

these old sleds are highly sought after by collectors.
you should have posted this thread in the "vintage" forum.

If you want to find info about it, try a google using OMC then Evinrude snowmobile.
The Evinrude was manufactured by OMC, same as the Johnson and Ski-Horse.
